The Juneteenth Freedom Belt is a special belt awarded by the World Boxing Council (WBC)
to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in June 2023 to celebrate
Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating
the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States.
The belt was presented following an exhibition match between Mayweather and John Gotti III. However,
due to chaos that erupted after the fight, the presentation ceremony was moved backstage.
In addition, the Juneteenth Freedom Belt has also been awarded to other boxers, such as Jermall Charlo in 2021,
in recognition of their achievements on Juneteenth.
